About us
Chinese medicine, as a precious cultural heritage of the Chinese race, is based on thousands of years of experience in health care, health maintenance and prevention and treatment of illness. In order to foster and meet the needs of the development of Chinese medicine in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) has established its first Chinese medicine clinic in November 1997 to provide quality Chinese medicine healthcare services to the public. The first Bachelor of Chinese Medicine & Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Biomedical Science double degree programme funded by the University Grants Committee (UGC) of the Government was launched in 1998/99.
To provide quality Chinese medical and healthcare services to the community and establish bases for clinical teaching and research, the School of Chinese Medicine set up the Clinical Division in July 2001. With the “Chinese Medicine Disease Prevention and Health Management Centre” newly established in 2018, and the 9 Chinese medicine clinics directly operated by the Division, there are now 10 service points under the service network of HKBU Chinese Medicine Service (HKBUCM) all over Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories, providing high quality and comprehensive Chinese medicine services to the citizens. Staffed with over 70 experienced Chinese Medicine Practitioners providing internal and specialty services, HKBUCM becomes a sizable both in teaching and clinical base for the tertiary education of Chinese Medicine and provides good quality Chinese Medicine service.
